Life Update

Hiya everybody, I hope everyone is well, I’m just writing this post as a bit of a life update since I’ve not been posting for a number of weeks, so I just thought I should explain a bit on why. So in September I unfortunately was not getting any more hours at my previous employment in a nursing home due to an injury on my back which I needed to have several MRI scans and even stay in overnight in hospital for, which I wrote a post on my experience which you can check it out here. Anyway so I decided it was time to look around for a new job, which I got one in my old hair salon where I worked as junior, but this was as a stylist, now I hadn’t done a lot of hair for about 2 years so I was rusty anyway which I warned my boss, so I undertook 2 days of being fully booked, but it wasn’t working out and I just wasn’t feeling it, I had clearly made a huge mistake when I was 16 by training in hairdressing. To add to that, the boss was not willing to help train me further and she also wanted me to be self employed which would not of worked out for me, so I decided to leave there and look further for a job. The only trouble was that I had left my job in the nursing home, but luckily my parents and fiancé was very supportive with my bills (which wasn’t that many). So just under 2 months passed and I had applied for so many jobs and attended several interviews but I was not being successful in any area. I started to feel quite down about everything and It was making me feel ill from it, so when I got an interview at a care home near where I live and they started asking me about my back And I told they everything that happened and I thought that in no way they would consider me for the position, even though my back has healed I was positive I hadn’t got it, so when I got a call a couple of days later I was so shocked when she said that they would love me to join their team, I was so happy I started to cry, because I had given up hope on ever getting a job but I finally done it. So now I’m waiting for my DBS check to come back and then I can get started and back to normality, because I wasn’t used to not working since I had started work the day after my last exam at school and I had been working ever since. Now I’m back and feel up to writing more posts on here and finally feeling a million times better about my self, and now that both me and my partner both have quite well paid jobs we can go on the house hunt again after Christmas and be able to start another chapter in our lives together. Thank you for reading this and I’m sorry for the lack of posts recently again this was due to the reasons ive just explained, so I will be posting many more up again like I was doing originally, thank you very much.

 My Experience with having Braces.

Hello, Happy Sunday everybody, today I will be sharing my experience with having braces. Now it all started when I was 13,my dentist at the time (no longer my dentist for this reason) said that I still had a baby tooth and it needed to be removed, and so I thought he is the professional so I had it removed, and quite a few months later a tooth hadn’t grown in it’s place, I then went back to my dentist and saw the same dentist again and he said that he got it wrong and pulled a adult tooth out and referred me to have braces to fix the gap. So I had to go to Winchester a month or so later for a consultation they x rayed my mouth which was strange because it’s this big thing that spins around your head whilst you bite down on something that you just know tons of people have had their mouths around 😵, they also discussed what type of braces I will be needing and If I can get them funded by the NHS or pay for them , luckly I got mine funded since they are very expensive starting at £2,500, Especially seeing it was my dentists fault for me needing them in the first place since I had straight teeth. In this consultation they then take an imprint of your teeth in this horrible clay stuff that sticks everywhere around your mouth. It then took a month or so to have them put on and that wasn’t so bad you are just lay there with glasses on and one of those tools to open your mouth wide and they stick each one on to each tooth with this horrible tasting glue that they then had to set with a uv light and they ask you what colour bands you want, I went with purple at first but there is so many colours to chose from.

Now the next stage is the worse the after you get them put on, at first it feels fine a bit strange having things in your mouth, but after a couple of hours the pain starts to kick in and it is excruciating, I mean tooth pain is the worse for me anyway but that was so painful that I just felt like ripping off the braces just to make the pain stop, and I might be a drama queen but it was so painful, the worse bit was I was in Winchester and still had to get two trains to get home, and people on the train don’t understand why your writhing in pain, I then got some painkillers whilst waiting for my next train at southampton central spending £3 on them because I needed them so badly, at which point it calmed down but wasn’t gone completely. Now I wish I could tell you that that pain stops but no every 4-6 weeks when you go back to the orthodontist to have them tightened up again it comes back, not as bad and not for a long time but it still does hurt. I was living on soup, jelly, ice cream and soft foods for months, and I was not allowed to eat ANYTHING hard, which was difficult seeing there was a sweet shop right next door to my orthodontist. Now I had quite a terrible experience with my orthodontist since I had to travel too Winchester each time by getting 2 trains and therefore my mum spending quite a bit of money on the trains that we did need to get. Then my first orthodontist told me it will only take 14 months and that my teeth was moving too fast and the glue used to stick the braces on wasn’t strong enough and kept on coming away from the tooth, which she used to shout at me about for breaking my brace but once I was just talking to someone and it came away so it was not my fault, she then “left” the orthodontist (I thought thank god she was a right witch) I then went through another two at which point the orthodontist I was with was shutting down, at this point I had my braces on for 4 years which is a really long 14 months, so I got moved to this different orthodontist and the day before I was due to go in they transferred me to somewhere else in Winchester, they was really good and finally after only three appointments I finally got my braces off, which was such a relief and I finally felt free, they did hurt a lot since he literally was just ripping them from my teeth and then had to drill all of the messy half handed glue off my teeth ( which there is still some too this day) and my gums had swollen quite abit and started to bleed as he was a bit rough handed. And after 5 years of pain and practically torture I was fianally free. Except I then had to wear a clear retainer which hurt at first but I soon got used to it and I still wear it everyday at night to stop my teeth from moving again since I do not want to have braces again. Here is the before and after.
So this is my experience of having braces they are good since my gap has closed up, I just have had a bad experience since it started when I was 13 and I got them removed at 18, but this was just me I have known others to have a better experience with having braces, I just thought it would help to share my story with you since I had to have them for half a decade which is a quarter of my whole 20 years. I hope you enjoyed this post and don’t forget to like and follow below, thank you.

Sorry for the poor quality before photo I never used to open my mouth in pictures to smile to get a good one.

Date Night to Frankie and Bennys

In this post I will be discussing mine and my fiance’s date night out to Frankie and Bennys. Now we have always gone on a date night, since we never really dated before getting together, plus it’s always a great excuse to go out for something nice to eat or drink, even though we don’t really drink alcohol we still just like the atmosphere of being out at night in town so we normally go for a meal instead. And on this specific night we chose to book a table at the restaurant chain Frankie and Bennys, which we have really only just started going too since we used to always go to the Harvester, and we started to get bored with going to the same place every time, so we decided to try F&Bs and we loved it and we change each time we go out now. On this particular night we had not gone out for quite a while and I was really looking forward too going out for something good to eat, so one Conor got home from work we headed off to the train station, as there is not a F&Bs near where we live.We arrived a bit early for our booking so we decided too pop in to Tescos to have a look around and kill some time. However we still had a little bit of time to kill so we decided to go into the arcade next to the restaurant and spent some of our change on the machines, Conor is obsessed with the claw machines, for the last two-times that we went on holiday too Butlins he has been trying to win at least one toy and he has not had any luck as of yet, but we are going again on the 10th of October this year so hopefully he finally gets one. We then finally could go into the resturant and we got seated and got the garlic bread starter since we love that about our meal, we then ordered drinks and or main meals, I ordered a mocktail called Gentle Breeze, which is a mix of cranberry juice, apple juice and lime juice served over ice and finished with a wedge of lime, I totally recommend this mocktail as it is very refreshing. For my main meal I ordered the chicken and prawn alfredo, which is really nice and quite light for an alfredo sauce it had penne pasta with mushrooms, chicken and prawns seasoned with cajan spices and tossed in a creamy cheese sauce and was topped with a heap of rocket which was really way too much for how much pasta I had. Where as Conor had a glass of Coke with ice and his main meal was the New York Chicken burger which is two breaded buttermilk chicken breasts in a brioche bun with mayo, lettuce and tomato and is served with chips and coleslaw on the side, he polished the whole thing so it must be good since he is quite a fussy eater. Once we finished that we was so full we couldn’t have dessert so we just got the bill and made our way to the station for the train journey back home.

I hope you enjoyed hearing about our date night adventure, I would recommend Frankie and Bennys restaurant to anyone that enjoys New York Italian food, you can check out the menu and restaurant finder on the website or app at Frankie and Bennys.com , and in the UK if you join the F&B Rewards club you get £10 off your next visit. I’ve also featured F&Bs in a previous post on the Top 10 restaurants in the UK .

Day out too the Isle of Wight.

A few weeks ago me, my little sister and my mum all went out on a day trip too East and West Cowes on the Isle of Wight. We went over on the Red Funnel ferry leaving from Southampton port, the ferry ride took about 1 hour to get over too East Cowes, the ride went quite quickly and their was food and drink on board, and you could sit on the outside deck and watch all of the views as you go out of Southampton, such as Victoria county park etc. Then once you dock into East Cowes you can go to some of the local attractions such as the Osborne house or the classic boat museum, however we did not go to these and we caught the chain ferry over too West cowes which is where most of the shops and cafes are, so after a quick ride over to the other side we could finally get our trip underway, now I was the only one too come over to this part of the island so I had to lead the way we looked around the quaint little bric n brac shops, and the M&S food hall to pick up some mini Colin the caterpillars (only the best cake treat ever, I am officially obsessed) and some sweets. We finally wondered into a little cafe where we had some lunch as there is a shortage of any McDonald (much to my little sisters dismay) that we could find. After that we went for a walk on the promenade, avoiding some of the boats they was displaying for a boat show, we then saw our ferry coming in and as there not very regular we thought that we better get heading back, there was a bit of panic waiting for the chain ferry as we saw our ferry dock, but we made it with time to spare as foot passengers had to go in the same way as the cars but the cars had to be on first. We then made our way back and sat down inside but was right in front so we could see everything quite well.

So that was our adventure to the Isle of Wight, I had such a lovely time and will defiantly be returning again as all the other times I had been has been great, even though one was for a Hen Do, so even the night life is good on the island. I hope you’ve enjoyed hearing all about my Isle of Wight adventure, I defiantly recommend it to anyone a very relaxing day out.

Our Engagement story 💍

In this post I’m going to be sharing mine and my fiancés (Conor) story of how we came to be engaged. So we had known each other for quite awhile even before we got together, since we was friends back at school and even dated back when we was 15, but that soon broke off and we remained friends. And when school ended we both headed off to the same college and we soon got talking again through some awkward stares on the train home we finally got back together on the 25th February 2013. Nearly 2 years passed and we just knew that we was going to be together for a really long time and after holidays together and not ripping each other’s throats out we just knew we was destined to be together. Then on Christmas Day 2014 Conor completely took me by surprise when he took me for a walk around our local park where he took me up to the band stand and he got down on one knee and proposed and I had not one clue,it was a complete surprise. So of course I said YES. And so after nearly another 2 years we are still stronger than ever saving up for our own house and hopefully soon our wedding. So this was the story of our engagement which is a massive part of my humble adventure.💍👰🏼
